Four Killed and Many Injured as Bandits Attack Communities in Niger State
Bandits on motorcycles attacked Lanta, Tunga and Bagna in Erena Ward, Shiroro LGA around 10:30am on April 7, 2026. They killed at least four people and injured several others. Witnesses say the assailants roamed unchallenged for hours, forcing many to flee to nearby Erena town. A local source told Daily Trust that the casualty figures may rise as the area remains tense. The attackers struck the hometown of a former state commissioner for internal security. The Niger State Commissioner for Homeland Security has confirmed the incident and says security forces are responding.
