Dangote Sugar Seeks N500bn Rights Issue to Boost Capital
Dangote Sugar Refinery plans to raise up to N500bn in a rights issue after shareholders approved the proposal at its AGM in Lagos. The capital raise is subject to regulatory approvals. The board has authority to issue ordinary shares on terms and timing it deems fit. The offer may be underwritten and unsold shares could be offered to other investors, with any remaining allotments cancelled. The planned exercise ranks among the largest rights issues in Nigeria’s corporate history. It aims to boost the company’s capital base and support long-term expansion. In its 2025 audited results, Dangote Sugar posted a revenue increase of 24.6% to N829.2bn. A gross profit of N122.6bn was recorded, while pre-tax losses narrowed to N72.2bn from N270.8bn the previous year.
