Avre Demands Early Prep to Secure Super Falcons’ Spot at 2028 Olympics

Avre Demands Early Prep to Secure Super Falcons’ Spot at 2028 Olympics

Former Super Falcons star Patience Avre-Odeli has urged the Nigeria Football Federation and National Sports Commission to begin early and adequate preparations for the team. She stressed that only two African teams will qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Games out of 35 nations. Nigeria will face either Sudan or Comoros in the second qualifying round set for October 5–13, 2026. Avre-Odeli called on NSC chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko to fully fund the Falcons’ buildup and work closely with the NFF to give the squad everything it needs to book an Olympic ticket.

Relying solely on calls for early prep has been tried before without real follow-through from sports authorities.

I'm not convinced starting preparations years in advance guarantees qualification against stronger African teams.

A detailed timeline with clear targets for training camps, scouting, and funding might improve consistency in our build-up.
