PDP Screens 134 Plateau Aspirants, Three Senatorial Candidates Emerge by Consensus
The Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State has screened 134 aspirants ahead of its 2027 primaries. Screening committee chairman Tyem Gideon Nanden confirmed that three senatorial hopefuls cleared the process and will contest next Wednesday. Johnbuil Shekarau for Plateau South, Timothy Golu for Plateau Central and Formson Godson Dalyop for Plateau North all emerged through consensus in their districts, a move aimed at avoiding internal disputes. Nearly all House of Representatives aspirants also rode on consensus, except in Langtang North/Langtang South where a contest is expected. The exercise also covered 131 candidates for the 24 Plateau State Assembly seats. Meanwhile, five governorship aspirants are being screened in Abuja: Kefas Wungak, Ropshik Sarpya, Danielo Sunday Biggs, Alfred Dapal and Alex Ladam. Nanden dismissed rumours of divisions, insisting the party remains united under its leadership.
