Real Madrid’s Ferland Mendy to Face Trial After Dog Attack Injures Teen
Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy has been ordered to stand trial over an incident in January 2023 when one of his dogs escaped and attacked a 17-year-old boy. Court documents say four dogs fled Mendy’s property in a Madrid suburb after its gate was left open. One dog bit another family’s pet, which later had to be euthanised, before injuring a teenager and a second dog under the boy’s care. Prosecutors are seeking a six-month prison sentence for causing injury by gross negligence and have asked Mendy to pay compensation to the victims. The private prosecution is demanding higher damages. The case is set to be heard at Madrid’s Court No. 26, with the trial date yet to be fixed.
