A Nigerian soldier, Lance Corporal Yusuf Zakari, was reportedly killed while troops repelled an attack on Manja village in Chakfem District, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. Security sources said troops from Sector 9 of Operation Enduring Peace were deployed after armed attackers reportedly advanced through the Manja Forest towards the community, which borders Bokkos LGA. A prolonged gun battle reportedly followed. Zakari was said to have been fatally wounded during the exchange of fire. Authorities should give clear updates on safety measures for Manja residents and support for the fallen soldier's family while investigations continue.
