Zanzibar Police Question Fiancé After Influencer Ashlee Jenae’s Tragic Death

Authorities in Zanzibar have seized Joe McCann’s passport and are questioning him as a witness in the inquiry into content creator Ashlee Jenae’s recent death. The couple had traveled to celebrate her 31st birthday, during which McCann proposed, but a reported domestic dispute on April 8 led hotel staff to place them in separate rooms. Police documents list the immediate cause of death as cerebral hypoxia due to strangulation and suffocation. Jenae was found unresponsive the next morning and later died in hospital on April 10. Her family has raised concerns over delays in notification and is considering traveling to Tanzania to engage directly with authorities as the investigation continues.
