Why Osimhen and Lookman Will Miss Nigeria’s Poland and Portugal Friendlies

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has confirmed that Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman will miss Nigeria’s upcoming friendlies against Poland on June 3 and Portugal on June 10. Chelle explained that Osimhen is close to a club transfer and needs rest rather than risk playing below peak fitness. Lookman was granted leave by Atletico Madrid after a busy debut season in Spain. Visa issues have also affected other squad members, leaving Chelle with 18 available players. He describes both matches as a valuable test and hopes to challenge strong European sides despite Nigeria’s absence from the World Cup. Osimhen scored 15 goals in 22 appearances as Galatasaray won the Turkish Super Lig. Lookman helped Atletico Madrid reach the Champions League semifinals and contributed goals and assists in La Liga and Europe.
