Biblical Foundations for Christian Dating

Many Christians wonder how modern dating fits into God’s design for marriage. The Bible never uses the term “dating” as we do today, yet it sets a clear path toward a covenant relationship. Genesis 2:24 speaks of a man leaving his parents and uniting with his wife in a sacred, one-flesh bond. Scripture shows dating is not mere recreation but a journey toward a lifelong covenant. Ephesians 5:31–32 teaches that marriage symbolizes Christ’s love for the Church. That means our dating relationships carry spiritual weight and should reflect God’s faithfulness. Christians are called to pursue relationships with intentionality and reverence. When we align our hearts with God’s principles, our dating lives become a meaningful witness to our faith.
