Police Say Suspected Kingpin in Imo Monarch, Five Others’ Murder Was Killed in Gun Duel

Police say they have killed Ojiogu Elumah Martin, known as “Acid”, a suspected gang leader linked to the April 10 killing of traditional ruler Barrister Paulinus Ekwueme and five other people in Ohaji/Egbema, Imo State. According to the Force Public Relations Officer, operatives traced the suspect to a hideout in Ohaji/Egbema during operations conducted between August 2 and 6. Police said he exchanged gunfire with the team, sustained injuries and later died. One AK-47 rifle, three magazines and 56 rounds of live ammunition were reportedly recovered. Four suspects had earlier been arrested over the attack, while police say efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the alleged syndicate.
