Delta Police Arrest ‘Okada’ Rider for Alleged Kidnap of Three-Year-Old in Ughelli
Police in Delta State have arrested Kelvin Ogaga, a commercial motorcyclist, for allegedly abducting a three-year-old girl during her daily school run in Ughelli. The victim’s father reported the kidnapping on May 18 and later paid a ₦500,000 ransom to secure her release. Acting on technical intelligence, the Delta Police Anti-Vice Squad raided the suspect’s hideout. Officers recovered ₦127,000 believed to be part of the ransom, the motorcycle used in the offence and other valuables purchased with the proceeds. In a separate patrol operation, two firearms were seized, including a Beretta pistol found in an abandoned bag and a locally made single-barrelled gun recovered from a fleeing suspect linked to a confraternity. The state Commissioner of Police commended the swift action and urged residents to report any suspicious activity as investigations continue.
