FG Sets Uniform WAEC and NECO SSCE Fee at ₦50,000 from 2027

FG Sets Uniform WAEC and NECO SSCE Fee at ₦50,000 from 2027

The Federal Ministry of Education has approved a uniform examination fee of fifty thousand naira (₦50,000) for both WAEC and NECO SSCE candidates. This new rate takes effect from the 2027 examination cycle after a request by WAEC and a meeting with the Education Minister on March 31, 2026. A statement dated June 18 from the Director of Senior Secondary Education says the Minister directed both examination bodies to adopt the same fee per candidate. The decision applies to NECO SSCE (Internal) and all WAEC and NECO sittings. The ministry’s press office confirmed the approval and noted that all relevant stakeholders have been informed. Schools and examination centres are expected to update their payment procedures accordingly.
