Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has criticised the Confederation of African Football after its controversial ruling stripped his team of the AFCON title. The decision demands the trophy be handed over to hosts Morocco. In protest, the Senegal squad paraded the trophy during a friendly against Peru in France, defiantly rejecting CAF’s directive. Mendy accused CAF of lagging behind the sport’s rapid growth in Africa. He warned that such decisions harm the continent’s football and called for stronger leadership from African football’s governing bodies.
