Nigerian Breweries Bounces Back: Shareholders Praise 2025 Recovery Despite Dividend Pause

At its 80th AGM in Lagos, shareholders applauded Nigerian Breweries Plc’s strong financial turnaround in the 2025 year. They credited tighter cost controls and improved profitability for reversing earlier losses. Eke Emmanuel of the Independent Shareholders Association highlighted the return to positive cash flow, while Owolabi Opeyemi noted the reversal of two years of negative cash. Board Chair Juliet Anammah pointed to the brewer’s strong brand portfolio, nationwide distribution network and digital initiatives as key drivers of its stability. No dividend will be declared for 2025 as the company rebuilds retained earnings after foreign-exchange setbacks. Management says it will resume payouts once finances stabilise, though external risks like geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainties may influence the recovery pace in 2026.
