ICPC Probes Permanent Secretary Over Delayed Tinubu-Approved Funds for Agencies

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has opened an investigation into Binyerem Ukaire, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, over claims that she delayed payments approved for federal media and orientation agencies. The funds were meant for the operations of the Nigerian Television Authority, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Voice of Nigeria, News Agency of Nigeria, National Orientation Agency and National Broadcasting Commission. Sources said the payments were delayed after agency heads allegedly declined a request to present details of their projects and spending. The ICPC has questioned Mrs Ukaire and the affected agency heads. The payment files have now reportedly been approved and forwarded for disbursement, while the investigation continues.
