Barcelona to Host Al Ahly in Historic Joan Gamper Trophy Friendly

Barcelona will host Egyptian champions Al Ahly in the Joan Gamper Trophy at the Spotify Camp Nou on 19 August. The friendly will be Barcelona’s first home match of the 2026/27 season and will include the club’s traditional squad presentation. It will also conclude Al Ahly’s pre-season camp in Spain ahead of their new campaign. Al Ahly will become the first Egyptian club and first African side to feature in the annual tournament. The clubs previously met in friendlies in Cairo in 1961 and during Al Ahly’s centenary celebrations in 2007. Reports say Al Ahly could earn $500,000, alongside a share of matchday and commercial revenue, from the fixture.
