Court Vacates Peter Obi’s NDC Party Registration Over Logo Infringement
The Federal High Court in Lokoja on June 26 set aside its earlier order directing INEC to register the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). The judge found the initial ruling flawed because key parties were not heard and material facts were suppressed. The court ruled that the Peace Movement Party must be joined to the suit. It restored the status quo to before the December 10, 2025 judgment and ordered a fresh hearing with INEC, PMP, and NDC as parties. Counsel for the PMP said the NDC’s registration was based on a logo the movement had already submitted to INEC. As a result, the party’s certificate and any ballot appearance must be withdrawn pending the final determination. Unless reversed, Peter Obi and Rafiu Kwankwaso will be excluded from the next election ballot.
