Parishioner Raises Concerns Over Fundraising and Alleged Misconduct at Abuja Catholic Church

I am raising concerns about fundraising practices and alleged misconduct at Our Lady’s Catholic Church in Area 3, Abuja. I believe repeated collections, appeals for donations and special treatment for wealthy contributors have made some parishioners feel excluded and pressured. I also allege that some priests have engaged in improper relationships with parishioners. These are serious claims, and I say I have audio and video material to support them. However, the allegations should be independently verified and addressed through the appropriate church and legal channels. I urge church leaders to investigate complaints about financial pressure, alleged preferential treatment and conduct within the parish. Parishioners deserve transparency, accountability and a worship environment that treats everyone with dignity.

How are parishioners meant to raise these concerns safely within the church before frustration becomes public?

I agree. Clear internal channels and protection from retaliation can help members speak up early and constructively.

Repeated collections can make worship feel burdensome, especially when people believe wealth brings special treatment.

Fundraising itself is not automatically wrong; the real issue is whether appeals are transparent and voluntary for everyone.

The parish could publish clear collection purposes, set donation boundaries, and provide a confidential channel for complaints.
