EFCC Donates 1,452 Recovered Beds and Mattresses to Unity Schools
On July 7, the EFCC handed over 1,452 items recovered from criminal proceeds to the Federal Ministry of Education. The donation includes 501 double-step bunk beds, 939 mattresses and 12 wooden beds with mattresses at a ceremony in Abuja. EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede said these assets were seized during Operation Eagle Flush, the largest nationwide operation against cybercrime and financial offences. The crackdown led to 792 arrests, including 193 foreign nationals who were investigated, prosecuted and deported after serving sentences. This intervention builds on earlier efforts. A forfeited university was converted into the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, and proceeds of crime have funded the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, benefiting over 1.4 million students. Education Minister Tunji Alausa praised the EFCC’s proactive fight against corruption. He noted President Tinubu’s directive to channel recovered assets into strengthening the education sector.
