1 / 5

Troops of the Nigerian Army teamed up with NDLEA operatives to arrest three men in Kagara village, Kafur LGA, Katsina. The operation unfolded around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Soldiers from the Forward Operating Base Malumfashi and officers from the NDLEA Area Command in Malumfashi led the raid on suspected drug distribution points. Authorities identified the suspects as Mohammed Lawan (34), Muhawiya Haruna (40), and Junadata Usman (40). Security forces recovered cannabis sativa, tramadol capsules, pregabalin, diazepam, Extol-5 tablets, rubber solution, and spirits. Preliminary investigations indicate the trio supplied hard drugs to terrorists and criminal elements in Kafur and neighbouring communities. The suspects and exhibits have been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and possible prosecution.

It's interesting that troops from Malumfashi base joined NDLEA, but arrests at 5:15 p.m. might miss valuable daylight evidence or witnesses.

I'm not convinced that arresting suppliers alone will stop terror funding; focusing only on street-level busts often overlooks bigger networks and financiers.

To keep communities safer, make sure say local patrols and intelligence sharing with NDLEA remain consistent around Kafur LGA villages.
