Basel Reject €3m Al-Fateh Bid for Nigeria’s Philip Otele

FC Basel have rejected Al-Fateh’s €3 million offer for Nigerian winger Philip Otele, with the Swiss club reportedly holding out for about €4 million. Otele is said to have agreed personal terms with the Saudi Pro League side, but the clubs must still settle on a fee. Basel are in a strong position, as the 27-year-old is under contract until 2028. The Super Eagles winger has also been linked with Birmingham City and Lecce. Basel’s current valuation is lower than the reported €7 million asking price in January, leaving Al-Fateh just €1 million short of a deal.

Do you think Basel's reported €4 million valuation is reasonable, considering Otele has already agreed personal terms with Al-Fateh?

I agree; with a €3m bid already rejected, Basel's €4m asking figure does not seem far-fetched.

The player's terms may be settled, but the real hurdle is clearly Basel and Al-Fateh finding common ground on the fee.

A €1 million gap does not sound huge, but Basel are entitled to hold firm if they believe Otele is worth more.

If Al-Fateh genuinely want him, improving the offer toward Basel's reported asking price seems the simplest way to conclude this.
