Lagos State Disburses ₦4.5bn in Death Benefits to Families of Deceased LG and SUBEB Workers
Lagos State Government has paid a total of ₦4.5 billion in insurance claims to beneficiaries of 338 deceased Local Government and SUBEB staff since Governor Sanwo-Olu took office. At a recent ministerial briefing, the Special Adviser on Rural Development highlighted this as part of wider efforts to boost worker welfare. The ministry also held Joint Accounts Allocation Committee meetings, resolved 48 petitions, issued 36 policy circulars, approved major council projects and organised orientation for newly elected chairmen. The government strengthened traditional institutions with four new installations and welfare packages for Obas. Rural infrastructure projects include 10 new roads, 53 water schemes, 35 transformers, solar streetlights and 80 electrification initiatives across communities. Community development saw the construction and rehabilitation of four halls, registration of 279 Community Development Associations, renewal of 642 CDA records and resolution of 11 local conflicts. Plans are underway for a new coordination hub for traditional and council leaders.
