Historic All-Nigerian Strawweight Showdown Kicks Off PFL Africa Season 2

Historic All-Nigerian Strawweight Showdown Kicks Off PFL Africa Season 2

On April 10 at Pretoria’s SunBet Arena, unbeaten Nigerian strawweight Juliet “Golden Bones” Ukah will face Jane “The Slayer” Osigwe. This marks the first all-Nigerian women’s clash in PFL Africa history. Ukah arrives with an 8-0 pro record and two PFL Africa wins. She outpointed Ceileigh Niedermayr last July and stopped Maryam Gaber by first-round TKO at the Africa Finals. Off the mat, she serves as a Nigeria Police Force corporal and was the first African-born female fighter signed by the league. Twenty-year-old Osigwe holds a 5-3 record and an interim bantamweight title from African Knockout. Known for her pressure and knockout power, she debuts at strawweight with hopes of derailing Ukah’s unbeaten run. Contrasting styles promise fireworks. Ukah uses patient leg kicks and strong takedown defense, while Osigwe relies on forward movement and high-volume striking. Both warriors aim to inspire the next generation of African women in MMA.

Ukah's 8-0 record is impressive, but the pressure of a homegrown rivalry in Pretoria might change the dynamic.

I'm not sure this match really moves the needle—Nigerian fighters have had big clashes before, this seems like more hype.

To get the most from this event, compare both fighters' PFL Africa performances and note who adapts better under pressure.
