Free Medical Outreach Reaches 650 Residents in Nnewi, Anambra
The Louis-Carter Foundation, working with the Association of Resident Doctors at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, provided free medical services to about 650 residents of Nnewi, Anambra State. The outreach offered clinical consultations, antenatal care, vital-sign checks, ultrasound scans, laboratory tests, eye care, free glasses, medicines, counselling and referrals. More than 20 health workers, including doctors, pharmacists, laboratory scientists, radiologists and nurses, took part. The medical team said the exercise identified previously undiagnosed cases of hypertension and offered counselling on HIV, medication adherence, healthy diets and routine health checks. The outreach was sponsored to mark philanthropist Izuchukwu Onwugbenu's birthday.
