Trump-Likeness Gold Coin Approved for America’s 250th Anniversary

Trump-Likeness Gold Coin Approved for America’s 250th Anniversary

A presidentially appointed commission has signed off on a commemorative gold coin bearing President Trump’s image. The issue will mark the United States’ 250th anniversary. One side features Trump standing behind a desk with clenched fists. The reverse shows an eagle with wings spread above a bell. The coin has no face value, and its price has not been revealed, though similar releases often exceed $1,000. US Treasurer Brandon Beach praised the design as emblematic of the nation’s spirit. He noted it will differ from two other planned Trump coins—a circulating dollar piece and a one-ounce gold issue. Last October, President Trump replaced all members of the US Commission of Fine Arts. This change preceded several high-profile projects at the White House and the renamed national arts center. Earlier this year, another advisory panel had refused to debate a Trump coin, citing precedent against depicting sitting democratic leaders on currency.
