Four residents abducted in Oke-Ere, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, have been rescued after a joint operation involving local vigilantes and Nigerian Army personnel. The victims were reportedly ambushed while travelling to the Liberia river area early on Sunday, August 2, 2026. A search-and-rescue operation later led to a gun battle with the attackers. Three suspected bandits were killed, while others reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds. A local vigilante member, Baba Glo, was killed during the encounter. Security agencies are continuing efforts to locate the fleeing suspects.
