Buni Pledges to Raise MNJTF Funding and Niger Withdrawal Concerns With Tinubu
Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has pledged to present the Multinational Joint Task Force’s funding, equipment and manpower challenges to President Bola Tinubu. Buni made the commitment during visits to the Lake Chad Basin Commission and the MNJTF headquarters in N’Djamena, Chad. He also said he would raise concerns over Niger Republic’s withdrawal from the task force. The governor, who chairs the Lake Chad Basin Governors’ Forum, said insecurity, displacement, climate pressure and violent extremism require stronger cooperation among countries in the region. He urged deeper engagement with the African Union, UNDP, financial institutions and other partners to support peace and development.
