TASFUED’s New VC Unveils Vision 2026–2031 to Boost Global Rankings

TASFUED’s New VC Unveils Vision 2026–2031 to Boost Global Rankings

Prof. Samuel E. Oladipo took office on May 5, 2026 as the 6th substantive and 3rd indigenous Vice-Chancellor of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education. He urged all stakeholders to join his administration in transforming the institution into one of Nigeria and Africa’s leading universities. He traced the school’s journey from college of education to its current federal status and promised an open-door policy to encourage ideas and collaboration. He stressed unity, noting that “there is no victor and no vanquished” among those who vied for the role. To achieve global relevance, Prof. Oladipo introduced the “TASFUED Vision 2026–2031” and the STAR-WIN Agenda. The plan targets top-25 ranking in Nigeria, top-100 in Africa, and a place among the world’s top 3,000 universities by 2031 through seven strategic pillars: sustainable funding, digital transformation, academic innovation, research growth, welfare, infrastructure, and partnerships. His roadmap includes curriculum updates, demand-driven programmes, internal seed grants, innovation hubs, upgraded laboratories, expanded housing, and wellness initiatives. With these steps, TASFUED aims to emerge as a globally respected centre for academic excellence by 2031.

Putting all weight on stakeholders might miss internal reforms; first fix curricula, boost research output, then rally support.

It sounds impressive on paper, but without clear funding plans and resource allocation details, those global ranking goals may remain out of reach.

Have we forgotten the promises of former VCs? Bold visions are common, but execution often falls short without clear accountability.
