Business Jet Crashes on Texas Highway, Hits Car; One Dead, Five Injured
A NetsJet Cessna Citation Latitude carrying six people diverted to Laredo after declaring an emergency en route from Los Cabos, Mexico, to Austin, Texas. The jet lost contact with air traffic control and made an emergency landing on a highway three miles from Laredo International Airport. It broke apart, caught fire and struck a moving vehicle. Witnesses used a sledgehammer and shovel to pry open the cockpit and free passengers. One person was killed and five others were rushed to hospital. Five police officers who responded to the scene also received treatment for injuries sustained during the rescue, local authorities confirmed.
