Palm Oil Hawker Launches Second Mathalon Maths Competition for Anambra Pupils
Just one year after its inspiring debut, Mathalon founder Friday Ugochukwu Ebubedike is set to host the second Mathematics Competition for primary five and six pupils. The event will hold on June 26, 2026 at the ASUBEB Hall in Awka. Ebubedike, a University of Calabar graduate and palm oil seller, launched Mathalon in 2025 to make mathematics engaging and practical. The maiden edition rewarded winners with cash prizes, educational materials, certificates and transport support. This year’s contest will feature top pupils in primary five and six competing for cash awards, gift items and certificates. It will be chaired by Ambassador Chibuzor Ekwenye, with appearances from His Royal Highness Igwe Dr. Benjamin Onukwube Okeji, Prof. Clementina Uchemna Agbionu and Prof. Eric U. Ofoedu. Organizers are calling on government bodies, corporate organisations and philanthropists to partner with Mathalon. Sponsorship will help sustain and grow this grassroots movement that is reshaping how children perceive mathematics.
