As the headline asks, are these government-led skill acquisition and youth empowerment programs genuine or just political gimmicks designed to exploit our resources? With elections looming across wards, local governments, states and the federal level, parties flood us with palliatives and empowerment promises that often go unrecognized and undelivered. I believe Nigeria needs lasting infrastructure improvements to drive economic growth. We should tackle food inflation, diversify away from oil, expand the tax base and make it easier to do business at the subnational level.
