Capture Water Up Close: Join the World Water Council Photo Storytelling Contest

Capture Water Up Close: Join the World Water Council Photo Storytelling Contest

Water Voices: From Stories to Solutions is a global digital initiative inviting participants to share powerful images of their daily relationship with water. Show water in its everyday context—hands at a tap, fetching from a well, a meal being prepared, or a quiet moment by a river. This theme rewards observation over fancy equipment, making it accessible to everyone. Open to all ages, nationalities, and experience levels, the contest allows one submission per participant. Photos must feature water as the central element and align with the competition theme. You may use any device—smartphone or professional camera—and apply basic edits like cropping or color correction. AI-generated or heavily manipulated images are not permitted. Each entry must include a caption (up to 150 words) describing the location, date, context, and story behind the shot. Submissions should be in JPEG format. By entering, you confirm ownership of the copyright and agree to the World Water Council’s use of your photograph for promotional, educational, exhibition, and archival purposes, with full credit. We look forward to your unique perspective on water and the stories it connects. For more details, refer to the official announcement by the World Water Council.

Are you focusing on how water shapes everyday routines or more on emotional connections it sparks?

Many contests highlight dramatic scenes, yet this one pushes everyday taps and wells into focus. It might change how we photograph water.

Focusing on everyday taps feels overdone, though. We might end up with photos that look too similar across submissions.

Maybe set simple guidelines for framing those tap and well shots—like closeups with clear angles—so submissions feel fresh and consistent.
