Pastor Dolapo Lawal Calls Overseas Care Work ‘Modern Slavery’
Nigerian televangelist Dolapo Lawal warned that many compatriots working abroad end up in modern-day slavery. In a recent sermon, he argued that most migrants take on caregiving and other demanding jobs just to survive, not to build wealth. He claimed it’s easier to become a billionaire in Nigeria than overseas, noting few Nigerians abroad ever achieve real prosperity. He urged believers to seek divine guidance at home instead of selling assets to fund risky relocation. According to him, many working abroad send no money back simply because they lack the earnings to do so.
