Bartomeu Reveals Messi Nearly Left Barcelona for €400m After Neymar’s Exit

I get why it seems eye-raising, but €400m for a player of Messi's calibre wasn't that far-fetched.

It's interesting how raising Messi's release clause to 700 million became the go-to move to stop rivals from entering.

I'm not convinced boosting clauses alone really protects a club if the player is dead set on leaving.

Big clubs should focus on stronger team culture and genuine value, not just astronomical release clauses for their stars.
