IED Blast Reportedly Kills At Least Eight Soldiers on Maiduguri–Dikwa Road
At least eight soldiers were reportedly killed after a military convoy struck an improvised explosive device on the Maiduguri–Dikwa route in Borno State. The troops, attached to the 24 Task Force Brigade in Dikwa, were said to be returning to base after escorting food and other supplies from Maiduguri. A military source said the lead gun truck hit the explosive, killing all personnel in the vehicle. The identities and ranks of the victims had not been confirmed at the time of the report. Insurgents have repeatedly targeted military supply routes in Borno with ambushes and roadside explosives, particularly on roads linking Maiduguri, Dikwa, Bama and Marte.
