Lagos LP–Obidient Bloc Leaders Urge Review of State Congress Appointment

Lagos LP–Obidient Bloc Leaders Urge Review of State Congress Appointment

On March 24, 2026, leaders of the LP–Obidient Coalition Bloc in Lagos State issued a press statement regarding the recent appointment of Mr. John Ughulu as the NOS Congress Representative for the state. We formally bring our concerns to the national leadership and the public. As grassroots organisers in the 2023 presidential election, we believe that key coordinating roles must foster unity, trust, and inclusiveness. Lagos is politically strategic and demographically diverse, so appointments should have broad acceptance across all local political tendencies. We recall coordination challenges during the 2022/2023 campaign that strained our mobilisation efforts. Current leadership selections must draw lessons from past tensions to strengthen cohesion and reduce political friction on the ground. In the spirit of unity and progress, we respectfully call on our national leaders under Senator David Mark and the National Secretary to reconsider this appointment. We recommend Barr. Folusho Olateju Leigh for his track record of service, competence, and grassroots respect. This appeal reflects the views of over 100 coalition leaders across Lagos’s 20 Local Government Areas.

I see your point, but maybe they're more worried about internal balance than timing alone.

This sudden call for a review raises questions about the Bloc's internal decision process and transparency.

I hear their concerns, but this review demand fit just delay our representation without clear benefits.

Before pushing for a congress appointment review, members should gather detailed evidence and outline specific procedural breaches clearly.
