Teachers Rally Nationwide Over Gruesome Killing of Oyo Educator

The Nigeria Union of Teachers staged a one-day peaceful protest nationwide to condemn the killing of a teacher in Oyo State and demand the release of abducted staff and students. In Abuja, NUT FCT Chairman Abdullahi Shafa said the action followed a directive from the union’s national headquarters. He described the beheading as horrifying and warned that such violence risks undermining the teaching and learning environment. The union urged the federal government and security agencies to enhance protection for teachers and pupils, secure school premises with perimeter fencing, and improve infrastructure to guarantee a safe learning environment.
