Police Investigate Alleged Abduction of Newborn From Gboko Health Centre
Police in Benue State are investigating the alleged abduction of a newborn from a family healthcare centre in Gboko Local Government Area. The baby reportedly needed attention after not crying immediately after delivery. After the infant responded normally, the mother and baby were moved to a ward. A woman allegedly posed as a nurse, collected the baby for another examination and disappeared. An activist said a suspect was later arrested in Adekaa, Gboko, after being tracked from Tarka LGA. The Benue Police Command confirmed that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Makurdi, but had not confirmed the reported arrest.
