Ozonweke Celebrates Maiden Coaching Triumph as Edel FC Retain Anambra FA Cup

Ozonweke Celebrates Maiden Coaching Triumph as Edel FC Retain Anambra FA Cup

Phinan Ozonweke, former Rangers defender turned head coach of Anambra’s Edel FC, is elated after guiding his side to back-to-back Anambra State FA Cup titles with a 2–0 victory over Amanda FC at NEROS Stadium. Solomon Ugwu broke the deadlock late in the first half, and Damien Udoye sealed the win with a powerful left-footed strike in the second half. Ozonweke praised his players’ resilience and admitted his side wasted several clear chances that could have widened the margin. The ₦2 million cash prize is a boost for the club and its president. Ozonweke believes this first major coaching trophy heralds greater success and is already focused on sharpening his team ahead of the national President’s Federation Cup challenge.

Coach Ozonweke should focus on scouting local talent early to build a squad capable of competing beyond the state level.
