Uganda Unveils Entebbe Statue Honouring Israeli Commander Yoni Netanyahu

Uganda has unveiled a statue of Lt. Col. Yoni Netanyahu at the old Entebbe Airport terminal, commemorating his role in the 1976 Operation Entebbe hostage rescue. Netanyahu, the elder brother of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, led the Israeli assault team that rescued more than 100 hostages after an Air France flight was hijacked and diverted to Uganda. He was the only Israeli soldier killed during the operation. The monument stands at the site of the rescue and reflects the historical link between Uganda and Israel created by one of the most famous military rescue missions of the 20th century.
