A four-year-old girl in Scotland suffered a stroke months after recovering from chickenpox, prompting her mother to urge parents to take unusual symptoms seriously. The child woke with vomiting and a headache in June 2025. When she could not sit upright, kept falling to one side and could not grip her mother’s hand, she was rushed to hospital. Her speech later became slurred and one side of her face drooped. Scans showed inflammation in a major artery, which specialists linked to her earlier chickenpox infection. She spent almost eight weeks in hospital and is now rebuilding her strength through rehabilitation. Her mother urged parents to trust their instincts and remember the BE FAST stroke warning signs: balance, eyes, face, arms, speech and time. Vomiting, headache, sudden weakness, facial drooping or speech changes require urgent medical attention.
