Anambra Police Arrest Three Suspected Child Traffickers, Launch Manhunt for Others

Anambra Police Arrest Three Suspected Child Traffickers, Launch Manhunt for Others

The Anambra State Police Command has achieved a major breakthrough in its ongoing campaign against child trafficking. Three women were arrested on Saturday evening during an operation at the Awada Divisional Headquarters in Onitsha. Preliminary investigations reveal that one suspect brought a two-week-old baby and a four-year-old child on separate occasions. The older child was allegedly sold for ₦2 million. Efforts are now focused on tracing the buyer of the infant and other fleeing members of the syndicate. The State Commissioner of Police has ordered a discreet and thorough investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department. He also directed officers to intensify operations to locate, rescue, and reunite trafficked children with their families. The command reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling child trafficking networks and urged the public to continue providing credible intelligence to protect vulnerable children.
