Ijaw Nation Poll Reveals Strong Peter Obi Support Ahead of 2027 Election

Ijaw Nation Poll Reveals Strong Peter Obi Support Ahead of 2027 Election

A recent survey by the Lovers of Ijaw Nation Organization across six Ijaw states gauged community support for the 2027 presidential race. The poll covered 86 clans and 2,848 villages, reaching over 1,000 respondents per clan. Bayelsa and Rivers scored highest for Peter Obi, with 78% and 85% support respectively. Edo and Akwa Ibom communities also backed Obi at 64% and 65%, focusing on infrastructure and community development over party politics. In Ondo, 53% expressed support for Obi alongside calls for unity, while Delta remained more neutral, giving Obi 45% compared to 55% for other candidates. Across all regions, many respondents prioritized candidates who value Ijaw interests and community welfare.

I'm not convinced high support in those states guarantees a wider national trend come 2027; southern polls can be misleading if taken alone.

Campaign teams should map out voter concerns in each clan, then tailor their messaging to those local priorities ahead of the election.
