Nigerian Businessman Arrested in India for Leading Cocaine Supply Ring

The anti-narcotics unit in Panchkula uncovered a cocaine network operating between Delhi and the Tricity area. Police say the ring was run by a Nigerian national who used a clothing and footwear business as a front. A tip-off in June led officers to Sector 26’s Herbal Park, where they trapped the prime suspect and seized 87 cocaine pellets weighing 43 grams from his vehicle. During questioning, he admitted sourcing the drugs from another Nigerian in Vikas Puri on instructions from a local associate. Authorities later arrested both intermediaries and established that the Nigerian suspect had trafficked cocaine in India since arriving on a business visa in 2018. He has been produced in court and is now in judicial custody as the investigation continues.

It's surprising that a tip-off was needed to uncover the ring; routine checks might have spotted inconsistencies in shipping records earlier.

Importers should demand more thorough documentation and verification from suppliers to prevent misuse of legitimate businesses as trafficking fronts.
