Rudeboy Celebrates Igbo Identity After Mr P’s Nigerian Language Remarks

Rudeboy, whose real name is Paul Okoye, has shared a message celebrating Nigerian culture and Igbo identity amid criticism of his twin brother, Mr P, over comments about indigenous languages. The singer posted a video for his Igbo-infused song, “Nkenji Keke,” saying he would be nobody without Nigerian culture, his native language and the pride of being Nigerian. He added that he is “100 per cent proudly Nigerian” and “100 per cent proudly Igbo.” Although he did not name Mr P, the post came days after Mr P was criticised for questioning the value of his children speaking a Nigerian language. Mr P had praised his children for speaking French and later defended parents’ freedom to choose the languages their children learn. Rudeboy’s post has been widely interpreted as a contrasting response that places Igbo language and cultural identity at the centre of his pride.
