Fubara Takes Early Lead in NDC Rivers Gubernatorial Primary

Results from 15 of the 23 local government areas in Rivers State show Blessing Fubara leading the race for the NDC governorship ticket by a wide margin. Four contenders—Blessing Fubara Sr, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Fafahdan Princewill and Mike Willy—are vying for the party’s flagbearer slot ahead of the 2027 election. The Obidient/Kwankwasiyya Movement observer group commended the peaceful conduct of the primaries and reminded all aspirants that only the party’s empowered election committee can declare official results. They urged members to ignore any unofficial announcements and allow the committee to complete collation before any winner is confirmed.
