Accountant-General Refutes PFIPC’s CBN Account Claims Amid Fraud Investigation
The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation says the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council never completed steps to open a Central Bank account. It insists no government funds were ever credited or disbursed. This response follows a presidential media statement alleging that Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi used forged documents to mislead the OAGF and open a fake CBN account. The OAGF’s public relations director explains the process stalled because authorised signatory details were never submitted. The accountant-general also dismissed reports that salaries were paid to PFIPC staff. He noted federal agencies must secure multiple approvals before recruiting or processing payroll, none of which the council obtained.
