Why Eden Hazard Turned Down Saudi Offers: His Candid Chat with Mikel Obi

Eden Hazard revealed on the Obi One Podcast why he chose retirement over lucrative Saudi deals. The former Chelsea and Real Madrid star said he lost the desire to play and prefers spending time with his family. He explained that while he misses dressing-room banter, he doesn’t miss the demands of professional football. When John Mikel Obi joked he could have earned £1 million a week in Saudi Arabia, Hazard replied, “I’m rich enough to be happy.” Hazard retired in October 2023 after injuries disrupted his Real Madrid spell, ending a career that included Premier League, Ligue 1 and Champions League titles.
