Sambo to Tinubu: Nigerians, Not the President, Must Judge INEC’s Neutrality
Arise News Director Sumner Sambo has said President Bola Tinubu should not be the one assuring Nigerians that the Independent National Electoral Commission is neutral ahead of the 2027 general elections. Sambo was reacting to Tinubu’s comments during a meeting with Catholic bishops in Abuja. The President said INEC had remained neutral and had not intimidated any political party or candidate. According to Sambo, Nigerians must be able to see INEC’s fairness independently. He said the commission should maintain clear distance from the government and people close to it to avoid public mistrust.
