Nigerian Elections Stay Rigged Because Voters Won’t Defend Their Ballots

Elections in Nigeria are only rigged when we allow them to be. Unless we stay at our polling units until votes are counted, our ballots will never matter. Our politics is transactional. Too many of us vote, then go home or off to a night vigil, trusting prayers over presence. If we want votes to count in 2027, we must insist they are tallied at the booth. Our true night vigil should be watching the ballot count, not waiting at home. Until Nigerians decide to demand accountability on election day, rigging will continue.
